The subject invention relates to the oral administration of ecdysone and 20-hydroxyecdysone for controlling subterranean termites ( Rhinotermitidae ), for example Reticulitermes flavipes and Coptotermes formosanus . In preferred embodiments these compounds are used in a termite bait.
