In addition, by administering these antibodies to a patient in need thereof, a method of inducing cell death is provided. A method of preventing infection by a virus (e.g., HIV) by administering to a patient in need thereof an antibody of the present invention is also provided. The present invention also provides a method of introducing an agent into a cell that expresses sulfated PSGL-1 by coupling or complexing an agent to an antibody of the present invention and administering the complex to the cell. Finally, the present invention provides methods of diagnosis, prognosis and staging using the present antibodies.
