Zusammenfassung: | The material is transparent when the vanadium oxide content is very low, but the high quartz mixed crystals are darkened when the vanadium oxide content is increased to a significant value. Only small traces of arsenic oxide and antimony oxide are present. The darkened ceramics have a light transmission factor in the visible range of tau less than 5% and an infrared transmission factor of greater than 65% for a hob of 4 mm thickness. The transmission factors are adjusted during manufacture by combining the vanadium oxide with at least one solid, liquid or gaseous reducing agent, which is then added to the glass melt. Typically, 0.02 to 0.3 wt % of vanadium oxide may be added. |
