Sheet stacking device and method for controlling the introduction of sheets in a paddle wheel

The method is especially. for bank notes fed into sorter pockets (2) of a rotating stacker wheel (1). The presence of notes at a distance to the stacker is determined and evaluated by a sensor. During the evaluation process, a group of at least two notes (7A,B) is taken into consideration, and the kinematics of the stacker are altered dependent upon the evaluation result of this group. The method can be changed from synchronous intake speed, where the note speed is at a defined ratio to the stacker wheel speed, to individual note flow control, where the wheel is controlled individually for each note or each group, if irregularities in note flow are shown up by the evaluation result.
