description PCT No. PCT/DE94/01407 Sec. 371 Date Jun. 16, 1997 Sec. 102(e) Date Jun. 16, 1997 PCT Filed Nov. 29, 1994 PCT Pub. No. WO95/15436 PCT Pub. Date Jun. 8, 1995A circuit arrangement for starting an internal combustion engine by means of a sliding-gear starter (10) is proposed, by means of which the starting process is interrupted after a predetermined first time period in case of a meshing blockage and is repeated at the end of a further predetermined time period. The circuit arrangement is provided with a voltage detector for detecting a meshing blockage (blind switching of the starter), which senses the voltage drop at the storage battery (15) caused by the activation current of the starter motor when meshing. In the case of a missing voltage drop, the starter (10) is switched off via a switching element (20) of the start repeat device (18), and after a further time period of a timer circuit of the start repeat device (18) it is switched on again (FIG. 1).
