SKIRTING BOARD, PROCESS FOR ITS MANUFACTURE AND APPARATUS FOR CARRYING OUT SAID PROCESS

Skirting board having a wooden-material core which is covered by an extruded-on hot-melt adhesive layer and an outer layer, extruded onto the latter, of a thermoplastic and contains, to prevent elongation of the mounted skirting board, a hygroscopic salt and, in the delivery state of the skirting board, a quantity of water exceeding the natural water content of the wooden material. To manufacture such a skirting board in a continuous process, the wooden-material core is, in a continuous process, first sprayed with water and heated and then impregnated with a salt solution by supplying the latter, under pressure, on one side of the wooden-material core strip and applying a vacuum on the opposite side of the core strip, whereupon the hot-melt adhesive layer and the outer layer are extruded onto the core layer before its elongation caused by the impregnating agent has reached its maximum.
