The process involves calendering at temperatures above the crystallite melting point of a polypropylene or polypropylene-polyethylene mixture having a melt flow index in the range from 0.4 to 2.0 g/10 min (230 DEG C/21.6 N), this material being stabilised in such a manner that the melt flow index does not increase to above 2.4 g/10 min (230 DEG C/21.6 N) during the process. The material is preferably stabilised in such a manner that the increase in melt flow index during calendering is a maximum of 20% of the initial melt flow index.
