Amides and sulfonamides of prostaglandin-type compounds, which are of the formula …… wherein R8 is hydrogen or hydroxy; R3 and R4 are independently selected from H, CH3 and F; X1 is -COR1 or-SO2R1 and R1 is alkyl, fluorine-substituted methyl, phenyl, halophenyl or methoxyphenyl; M1 is a combination of hydrogen or methyl and hydroxy; W1 is a combination of hydrogen and hydroxy or is oxo or methylene; R7 is alkyl, butenyl or optionally substituted phenyl; Y1 is trans-CH = CH-, cis-CH = CH-, -CH2CH2- or -C IDENTICAL C-; and Z1 is a carbon chain which may have fluorine substitution or an interspersed oxygen atom or benzene ring. The compounds can have pharmacological acitivity and may be formulated into pharmaceutical compositions.
