Zusammenfassung:The superconducting magnet spool construction is activated or excited very quickly. The generation of heat in a magnet spool holder (2) by an eddy current is reduced and quenching is surpassed. The eddy curent is induced from a dynamic current e.g. vibration or magnetic field oscillatin. The holder is of low specific resistance material. A part (11) with high specific resistance is provided at at least one section of the holder circumference. This part is at a place where vibration is small. When the spool is acitvated the eddy currents in the circumferential direction are reduced at the high resistance part (11). When the dynamic current is produced the generation of heat by the eddy current from the low resistance material (10) is supressed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prevents transfer from superconducting to a normal conducting state i.e. quenching, and supresses generation of heat from eddy currents without affecting rise time needed to reach given value of operating current.
