The head contains imaging optics (2) for focusing incident light and light-receiving optics (37, 38) arranged concentrically to the imaging optics (2), for receiving the light focused by the imaging optics (2) and reflected by an object (44). The imaging optics (2) and the light-receiving optics (37, 38) are located on the same optical axis (5), the light-receiving optics (37, 38) surrounding the imaging optics (2). The light-receiving optics (37, 38) are also displaced forward in the direction of the incident light compared with the imaging optics (2), an input surface (37) of the light-receiving optics (37, 38) being inclined towards the optical axis (5). The optical reading head is suitable for, among other things, the colour-selective scanning of material webs and other colour items and exhibits high light absorption power in addition to high resolution.
