A measuring device for high temperatures having a radiation pyrometer (1) which is particularly for use in combustion chambers (8) which may contain particulates from combustion residues. A small measuring tube (2) extends coaxially to the direction of measurement of the pyrometer (1). The outer end (2a) of the tube (2) is closed. The inner end of the tube (2) which faces the pyrometer is open. The tube (2) extends through the wall (4, 5) of the measuring chamber. The thickness of the wall (4, 5) and the material of the small measuring tube are such that at the inner side of its closed end (2a) a temperature corresponding to that in the measuring chamber can be measured. The tube (2) is surrounded by a plurality of supporting tubes (7) open at both ends. The tubes (7) project from a coolant chamber (11), coolant gas passing through the supporting tubes (7) into chamber (8).
