Ammunition target-detector locking device - has non-circular stop turning at window through which detector is extended

The locking device is for the target detector (14) extended from the inactive position through a window (12) in a subsidiary ammunition body (10) into the working position, and has a pin (68) protruding from the parachute housing and working with the detector. A non-circular stop (26) at one window edge (24) turns on its lengthwise axis (32) between the holding and free positions. Clear of this stop there is a recess (58) in the body (10) at the side (44) towards the parachute housing accommodating a spring (60) and a striker (62) in line with the pin in the axial direction, its end (64) protruding from the recess, into which it retracts when the spring (60) is loaded. A spring component (48) coupled to the stop bears against this protruding end in the working position, and against the pin when the body is assembled with the parachute housing. The spring component is pre-loaded in the holding positionof the stop by the striker end and the pin. USE/ADVANTAGE - Target detector locking device is compact, and reliable in operation.
