description The firing hammer of a self-loading recreational pistol is cocked by the returning breech block and is held in the cocked position by a trigger pawl. During the cocking process, the trigger pawl (which can pivot) is pressed by the firing hammer deeply into the latching stop of the firing hammer against the force of a gas spring. This large engagement depth ensures that the firing hammer is not unlocked, and an inadvertent shot (negligent shot) fired as a consequence of vibration which occurs as a result of the breech block moving forwards during the self-loading process. The trigger pawl is subsequently pulled out of the latch in the firing hammer again by the relatively slow uncocking movement of the gas spring, until the desired minimum engagement depth is reached and the self-loading process is completed. The recreational piston now lies in the hand of the person shooting without any vibration and can be fired with a low trigger force and a small trigger movement.
