description The invention relates to a door damper and door stop for a motor vehicle door. For this purpose, a piston/cylinder unit is arranged between the vehicle door (6) and body (10), the articulation point (9) on the body (10) being located at a distance from the door-hinge axis (8), so that, in the event of a door movement, a relative movement between the piston (3) and cylinder (2) takes place. The cylinder (2) closed on both sides contains a displaceable double-acting piston (3) with at least two overflow orifices (15, 16) between the cylinder chambers (13, 14) which are provided with pressure-relief valves (23, 25; 24, 26) acting in opposition. By means of this door damper, a soft closing of the vehicle door, especially in cooperation with an electromechanical locking device, is achieved. At the same time, the door is stopped in any opening position.
