Lip sealing ring

In a lip sealing ring with a sealing washer composed of polytetrafluoroethylene, the adhesive part of which is extended to form an axial limb and inserted into the space between the sealing limb and the axial limb is a spring ring expanding radially in both directions and preferably comprising a steel spring ring which is bent into a U shape in cross-section and the limbs of which are punched out to form spring tongues, the said ring being inserted in such a way that it presses the axial limb and the sealing lip against the housing and the housing ring, on the one hand, and the shaft or rod on the other. In this way, the drop in radial force due to the flow of the polytetrafluoroethylene under pressure and the action of heat is compensated for and the ring remains statically and dynamically leaktight for a longer period of operation.
