Cutting tool for contour recessing

A cutting tool (10) for contour recessing is described which has a carrier (12), a clamping element (30) adjustably arranged on the carrier, and a centring member for centring the cutting insert (14) in an insertion recess (20) provided in the carrier (12). The insertion recess (20) has a fixed rear face (24) opposed to the main-cutting-pressure supporting face (28). With its bearing face (72) adjacent to the rake face (70), the cutting insert (14) bears against the rear face (24). On the side opposite the rear face (24), the insertion recess (20) is delimited by the clamping element (30), which is arranged in a recess (22) and has a clamping face forming the main-cutting-pressure supporting face (28).
