description A monitoring device for water-conducting domestic appliances has a water-conducting line (17) which is to be connected to a mains water supply via a shut-off valve (19). The water-conducting line is connected to an appliance container (2) below which a collection tray (9) for leaking liquid is arranged. A liquid sensor (11, 12) records leaking liquid in the event of a fault and moves the shut-off valve (19) into the closed state. In order to achieve optimum safety in a simple design of the components and their arrangement, the shut-off valve (19) is connected directly to the mains water supply (20), the water-conducting line (17) being surrounded over its entire length by an external hose (22) which reaches from the shut-off valve (19) up to the connection to the appliance container (2). In this case, the water-conducting line opens out into the appliance container (2) without an additional shut-off device.
