description In cyclone separators with immersion tubes, these immersion tubes are cut off at their end perpendicularly to the axis of the tube. The edge of the immersion tube is thus located at an unfavourable angle to the upwardly directed eddy current which flows off through the immersion tube and leads to disturbances in the eddy current. This brings about an additional loss of pressure in the cyclone separator. In order to reduce the pressure loss, the cyclone separator according to the invention is therefore equipped for the separation of solid particles from a fluid or gaseous medium with an immersion tube (5) whose wall has in its angled shape a cut-out (6) which is located on the side of the immersion tube (5) facing away from the fluid inlet. The shape of the cut-out is dependent on the design and on the fluid. The edges (7, 8) of the cut-out (6) can, in accordance with the application, be linear and/or curve-shaped. By reducing the pressure loss, for example in particular in the case of heat exchanger cyclones connected one behind the other in systems for producing cement, the power requirement of the blowers can be considerably reduced.
