Zusammenfassung:	This apparatus has a cooling shaft (1) with a polygonal cross-section, a bleed stream of the gaseous cooling medium being passed via the gas inlet orifices (15) in the cross-flow through the bulk material which is to be cooled and which flows from top to bottom, while a further bleed stream of the gaseous cooling medium is passed via the slot-like bulk material outflow (20) countercurrent through the bulk material to be cooled. The bulk material outflow (20) is provided with scrapers (21) which move to and fro.
