Zusammenfassung:	A drive device for an adjustment mechanism of a motor vehicle seat with a handwheel which serves for the transmission of a rotational movement to a drive shaft has a controllable rotation lock which goes into its locked position automatically when the handwheel is released. The handwheel (23) is coupled to the drive side of a downstep gear (11) which is to be coupled to the adjustment mechanism on its drive side. The rotation lock has at least one spring-loaded locking element (18) which in its locked position is in positively locking engagement with at least one catch (20) of a second locking element (19) and thus locks the drive shaft (6).
