description The invention relates to a weft regulator for a wave-shed weaving machine, with guide elements for the successively moving shuttles (6), consisting of a fixed reed (13), of an upper guide (9) provided just above the top-shed plane, and of a lower guide provided just below the bottom-shed plane, the weft thread (14) being beaten up against the fabric edge by a rotatable reed (5) consisting of beating-up discs and of edge and separated discs (33, 4, 3). According to the invention, the weft regulator contains an optoelectronic sensor (1) which is provided in a gap between the edge disc (4) and the separated disc (3) of the rotatable reed (5) on the weft entry side and weft exit side of the latter. In comparison with the known devices of this type, the subject of the invention has the advantage that it monitors the weft thread (14) in the shed during the time when it is tied in with the warp threads (11) and, if the weft thread is absent, gives the command to stop the machine.
