Cast iron inoculation wire - with inoculation medium in space between solid core and outer braid

A wire, used to introduce an inoculation medium in special cast iron qualities, consists of a central core of a carbon or alloy steel which is surrounded by a meshed braid. The inoculation medium is contained between the core and the braid and in the meshes of the braid. This releases the inoculation medium instantly during the pouring operation and is not delayed by the time required to melt a solid sheath. The greater flexibility allows thicker diameters to be used so that the feed mechanisms can be simplfied. The cast iron produced is of better quality because the additive is distributed more uniformly.
