1469087 Seat belts FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 23 May 1975 [1 July 1974] 22622/75 Heading A3V [Also in Division E2] The tongue plate 11 of a seat belt assembly has slots 19, 22 through which the end of each of a lap belt 17 and a shoulder belt 18 is threaded, folded over and stitched at (26) to itself, an auxiliary slot 32 providing a passageway through which a resulting belt loop (25) may be passed to remove it from the tongue plate. To discourage removal, slot 32 is hidden by loop (25) and a U-shaped spring steel clip 33 is snapped over leg 34. The legs 35 of clip 33 must be separated by a tool for removal of the clip and loop. Belts 17, 18 are connected to their own retractor, failure of one retractor enables only that retractor and the relevant belt to be removed rather than both retractors and both belts.
