description | 1455701 Laminates IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 18958/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3P and C3R] A method of making a laminated article comprises applying to the surfaces of the materials which are to be bonded together a plastisol composition of polyvinyl chloride containing an isocyanurate polymer which has been added to the plastisol as a solution in a solvent which is an effective plasticiser for polyvinyl chloride (see Division C3), followed by placing the plastisol-coated surfaces in contact and applying pressure at a temperature sufficient to cause the polyvinyl chloride to become plasticised. Prior to contacting the surfaces the plastisol may be semi-gelled by heating to 95-115‹ C. before raising the temperature to the level at which the polyvinyl chloride becomes plasticized. In the example a square woven twistless nylon fabric is coated with plastisol, semi-gelled at 110‹ C. and two layers thereof press laminated at 175‹ C. with their coated surfaces in contact. |
