Zusammenfassung:The containers are arranged in rows assembled into groups and stacked, a lane for a lorry being left free along one side, while a crane straddles the group and the passage. The lanes for adjacent container groups are next to each other. Thus a lorry entering one lane to load or discharge can bypass one there already doing so by driving over into the next lane round the crane and then back again. The crane can be of the portal type, running on rails or rubber-tyred wheels. A common rail can be used in the centre, to support the legs of two adjacent cranes.
