Zusammenfassung:Continuous combustion of mainly gaseous fuels mixed with are is carried out using a large burner with variable capacity up to 700 Nm3/h of inert gas. The gas/air ratio is automatically controlled by analysis of the product gas, CO2 is removed with an aq. soln. of alkali salts of aliphatic amino acids and used for production of technical CO2. Pref. alkali salts of dimethylamino acetic or monomethyl amino propionic acids, or a mixt. in ratio 90 : 10 to 70 : 30, are used, and regenerated with heat recovered from the combustion process in a waste-heat boiler. Inert gas required in the petroleum and chemical industries is simply and economically produced, with recovery of CO2 as a by-product.
