Hollow fibres may be given by extruding through an annular orifice having an inner tube coaxial with the orifice by which a fluid is injected into the fibre. The fibre is then cooled to below the melting point of the gel by contact with a cooling gas, which is preferably the vapour of a coagulating liquid, and then coagulating the fibre by means of an aqueous non-solvent. |
