description The positions provide a measurement for the location of the object w.r.t. the imaging unit and imaging level is arranged depending on the position of the markings. The positions of the markings are detected by an electromagnetic sensing unit independent of the magnetic resonance system. It provides a continual imaging with no need to alternate between imaging and sensing the markings. A stereoscopy camera (10) is arranged inside a high frequency cabin (1) and senses a marking element (11) on the patient (7) at the area to be imaged, the knee joint (8). The marking element consists of three fixed, orthogonal, separate markings which are reflective and so can be sensed by the camera. The fixed markings are sensed in a first co-ordinate system and their position data in the co-ordinate system is determined. The sensing unit (9) is connected with the control unit (3) which transforms the position data to a second co-ordinate system for the magnetic resonance unit (2) using a transformation matrix, which transfers the position data into the second co-ordinate system. The movement of the patient is then determined relative to the second co-ordinate system.
