Production of a fibrin sealant comprises (A) mixing platelet rich blood plasma and recombinant thromboplastin or (B) (a) mixing citrated blood plasma, recombinant thromboplastin and calcium; (b) separating thrombin from the mixture; and (c) adding the thrombin to platelet rich plasma.
