Zusammenfassung: | Reformer comprises: (a) a reactor unit (1) for carrying out a reforming reaction through which a CO-contg. reformate gas is formed; and (b) a CO-shift reaction unit (3) connected to the reactor unit for carrying out the CO-shift reaction for the CO contained in the reformate gas by addition of H2O. The CO-shift reaction unit (3) has several water inlets (4a, 4b) spaced from each other in the direction of the reformate gas stream. Also claimed is a process for operating the reformer. The temperature (TS1, TS2) and/or the amount of water added via the water inlets (4a, 4b) are adjusted depending on the unit charge so that the temperature and H2O concn. remain in the section of the CO-shift reaction unit (3) within a required region. The CO-shift reaction unit (3) consists of several stages (3a, 3b), each having a water inlet (4a, 4b) extending into the reformate gas inlet region. |
