Zusammenfassung: | The iron casting with spheroidal graphite has a sliding wear zone which is in contact with a corresponding material containing at least silicon, manganese and carbon. The casting incorporates a structure chosen from a group consisting of tempered martensite, tempered martensite and troostite, and tempered martensite and sorbite. Additionally, it incorporates a layer consisting of a solid solution with diffused nitrogen. Also claimed are a method for heat treatment of such a casting, and a resultant differential gear unit for motor-cars. The casting has a surface layer consisting of a carburising and nitriding compound. This layer has been produced on top of a solid solution layer with diffused nitrogen. Alternatively, an extremely thin surface layer is produced out of an oxidised compound on top of a solid solution layer with diffused nitrogen. The solid solution layer with diffused nitrogen has a thickness of 20-400 mu m and a Vickers hardness of 580-650. The surface layer consisting of a carburising and nitriding compound has a thickness of 5-30 mu m. |
