Porous carrier for immobilisation of microorganisms for microbiological processes
A porous carrier material for use in microbiological techniques in the form of a granulate with a granule size of 0.4-6 mm consisting of silicate-bound glass powder with an open porosity of over 60 % and where at least 60 % of the open pore vol. consists of pores with a pore radius of greater than 7...

description | A porous carrier material for use in microbiological techniques in the form of a granulate with a granule size of 0.4-6 mm consisting of silicate-bound glass powder with an open porosity of over 60 % and where at least 60 % of the open pore vol. consists of pores with a pore radius of greater than 7.5 mu m. The carriers are prepd. by granulating a mixt. of glass powder, an organosilicon cpd. and microspheres of a waxy substance as pore former, prehardening the granules at a temp. of from room temp. to 150 deg C, melting out the wax, and fully hardening the granulate at a temp. considerably higher than the prehardening temp. Pref. the mixt. subjected to granulation comprises 5-20 wt. % of a satd. aq. alkaline soln. of potassium methyl siliconate, 30-60 wt. % glass powder and 20-60 wt. % wax microspheres, prehardening is carried out at 80-150 deg C and hardening is carried out at 600-800 deg C. |
