The assembly for the prodn. of multi-layer paper or cardboard has a double fourdrinier (3) with the leading end formed by the inner fourdrinier (4) passing round a paper-formation roller (8) with an outer dia. of at least 800 mm. The suspension stream (9) at the roller (8) forms an angle with the vertical between -60 degrees where the suspension stream is directed upwards and +90 degrees where the steam is directed downwards. On leaving the roller (8), the inner (4) and outer (5) fourdriniers adopt a path at the forming bars (10,11) which is aligned downwards and, within a sector (12), deviates from the verticals by max. 10 degrees to the inner fourdrinier side and max. 45 degrees to the outer fourdrinier side.
