A break spinning unit comprises a combing out roller 10 and a channel 4 which does not pass through the axis of the spinning chamber 30 and which passes fibre from the combing out roller to the spinning chamber. Channel 4 discharges from the side of a body portion which projects into the open side of the chamber. The axis of roller 10 lies at an acute angle of 5 to 25, preferably 12, to a plane lying normal to the axis, of the chamber 30. The channel 4 .is so arranged that the projection of it longer sides cut the wall 34 along lines lying in planes normal to the chamber axis. The wider sides of channel 4 are arranged to be parallel to the axis of roller 10. The axis of roller 10 and chamber 30 are preferably concurrent.
