description | 1,267,863. Cassettes and machines. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 20 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 25686/69. Heading G5R. [Also in Divisions G2-G3] An adapter unit allows unenclosed film reels to be used with the film threading system as described in Specification 1,219,414 in which the wall of a magazine acts as a guide element and the enclosed reel flanges are squeezed together at a point to feed out the film end. The reel adapter unit 41 comprises a circular rim member 42, formed of resilient material and having a guide surface 46, attached to a baseplate 52 with a central hole so that the unit may be fitted over a spindle 12 of a film threading system. The rim member 42 has two ends defining a film feeding slot 45 and notches 68, 69 are provided so that the conical surfaces of the threading roller 27 may engage the reel flanges 72, 74. After fitting the adapter on the film handling system, a reel 70 may be loaded on spindle 12 by pressing downwardly on the reel to expand radially the rim member 42 allowing the lower reel flange 72 to pass the guide surface 46. In order to remove a reel while the adapter unit is located on the film handling system a pivoted ejector plate 75 is provided. |
