description | 1,201,107. Regenerating carbonaceous catalysts; chemical contact apparatus. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. 31 May, 1968 [6 July, 1967], No. 26351/68. Headings B1E and B1F. In a process for the oxidising regeneration of a bed of catalyst containing a carbonaceous deposit, a steam-containing regenerating gas which has an oxygen content of 1-10% is circulated through the catalyst bed, the circulation of the regenerating gas being maintained by a steam-jet ejector. Referring to the drawing, regeneration is initiated by closing valves 2, 3 and blowing steam through valve 4 to the reactor to expel residual reactants. When valve 5 is opened these residua escape through line 11. After scavenging valve 5 is throttled and valve 6 is opened. Suction produced by the ejector causes regenerating gas to circulate through the reactor. Valve 8 is opened to admit the desired quantity of air. |
