description Carbaminates (the ammonium carbonate-carbamate forms) of polyamines are prepared by reacting the polyamine with carbon dioxide under anhydrous conditions. Polyamines specified are the alkylenepolyamines, N-alkyltrimethylenediamines and N-tallow bis (amino-propyl)-amine. Examples describe the preparation of the carbaminates of diethylenetriamine and of N-tallow bis (aminopropyl) amine. ALSO: Compositions for use as adhesives comprise an epoxy resin having at least two vic-epoxy groups per molecule and a carbaminate of a polyamine. The carbaminates are the reaction products of the polyamines with carbon dioxide. The compositions which may contain colorants, flatting agents, fillers, accelerators and other synthetic resins are stable in the absence of moisture and may be cured by heating or by the addition of water to decompose the carbinate to the polyamine. The resulting products may be foamed or non-foamed. The compositions are useful as mortars or grouts for setting tiles of filling the joints between tiles.
