The invention relates to a positioning system, comprising a carrier device (2; 32; 52; 72), which is designed to hold a tool or workpiece or object, and comprising a supporting device (3; 33; 53; 73), which is designed to movably support the carrier device, and comprising a drive device (5; 35; 55; 75), which is designed to apply driving forces between the carrier device and the supporting device in order to enable a position change of the carrier device in relation to the supporting device, characterized in that the carrier device and the supporting device form a magnetic assembly, which comprises at least one superconductor (11; 46; 66; 81) and at least one permanent magnet (9; 39; 59; 79) and which is designed to support the carrier device in relation to the supporting device without contact, and that the drive device is designed to applying driving forces between the carrier device and the supporting device without contact.
