The errors detecting device (11,11') has a data interface (4,4') for receiving information over surroundings of a vehicle (1,1'). Another data interface (3,3') is provided for retrieving another information over the surroundings of the vehicle. An evaluation unit (5,5') is provided for comparing the both informations in such a manner that a fault is detected, when the former information deviates over a predetermined amount of the latter information. An independent claim is included for a method for detecting errors of an environment sensor of a vehicle. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung 11, 11' zur Fehlererkennung mindestens eines Umfeldsensors 2, 2' eines Fahrzeugs 1, 1', gekennzeichnet durch eine erste Datenschnittstelle 4, 4' zum Empfang einer ersten Information über das Umfeld des Fahrzeugs 1, 1', einer zweiten Datenschnittstelle 3, 3' zu dem mindestens einen Umfeldsensor 2, 2' zum Abfragen einer zweiten Information über das Umfeld des Fahrzeugs 1, 1' und eine Auswerteeinheit 5, 5' zum Vergleichender ersten Information mit der zweiten Information, derart dass ein Fehler dann erkannt wird, wenn die erste Information über ein vorgegebenen Maß von der zweiten Information abweicht.
