Zusammenfassung:	The device has electro acoustic transducer devices that convert pressure fluctuations in exhaust gas into electrical energy. A damping unit (15) is provided for damping the electrical energy. One of the transducer devices is arranged in exhaust gas flow. The damping unit comprises of an electrical filter and oscillating filter. Another transducer device is arranged in a separate, acoustic chamber coupled at the exhaust flow. The damping unit is connected with a motor control device of the internal combustion engine. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a sound damping device. Die Erfindung geht aus von einer Schalldämpfungseinrichtung in einer Abgasanlage (11), die an eine Verbrennungskraftmaschine (10) angeschlossen ist. DOLLAR A Es wird vorgeschlagen, dass mindestens eine elektroakustische Wandlervorrichtung (13, 32) vorgesehen ist, um Druckschwankungen im Abgas in elektrische Energie umzuwandeln.
