description | Disclosed is a method for detecting the condition of and machining switches in track systems, particularly for determining the position and profile of and reconditioning frog points. According to said method, a three-dimensional image of the profile of the transition area of a frog point is created and is fed to a data processing unit as real profile data. The data processing unit analyzes the real profile data and generates setpoint profile data by means of a numerical algorithm in order to geometrically describe the frog point. The setpoint profile data is fed to a machining unit (8) along with the detected real profile data so as to position machining tools and control drive units of the machining tools. New real profile data is then detected and compared to the setpoint profile data, and the machining unit is reactivated when a given difference between the new real profile data and the setpoint profile data is exceeded. |
