Zusammenfassung:	The method is for the operating of a vacuum manipulating unit with a programmable control unit (32) and with at least one vacuum producer to which are connected several gripping modules (10) which are equipped with a sensor and vacuum control valve and which are connected to the programmable control unit. Data recorded by the sensor is transmitted to the programmable control unit and then used to control the control valve. The data recorded by the sensor is used by the control unit to disengage gripping modules which are not in contact with object being manipulated.
