A system for automatic feeding of battery poultry has feeders suspended from height adjustable distribution ducts. Two telescopic sections connect each feeder to its distribution duct; an inner section connected to the duct and an outer section connected to the feeder. The telescopic sections have a set amount of rotational freedom as determined by radial stops. Access to the feed is opened by positioning the feeder onto the ground. By adjusting the height of the system different feeding ports are opened. This enables the user to set higher feeding ports for chicks and lower feeding ports for larger birds. The feeding system is thus applicable for a whole cycle of rearing, from chick to final bird. When the grown birds are removed the feeders can be cleaned by water sprays, with the rotational freedom of the mounting enabling a thorough cleaning cycle to be applied. The invention relates to a device for feeding poultry kept in an animal shed, comprising a feed conveyor pipe which is maintained above the floor of the shed in such a way that it can rise and be lowered, said pipe having a series of branched openings, whereby each branched opening thereof is associated with a basin-type device which is suspended on the conveyor device and which comprises a downpipe descending from the branched opening and a feeding basin located underneath said downpipe having a dome-shape structure formed by lattices exending in a spoke-like manner. The downpipe consists of an inner cylinder (7) departing from the branched opening and an outer cylinder encompassing said inner cylinder and on which the basin hangs by virtue of the lattices, whereupon it rests upon the bottom of the shed when the downpipe is lowered.
