Verfahren zur Polymerisation von C¶2¶-C¶8¶-Alk-1-enen mit Hilfe eines geeigneten Katalysatorsystems, wobei aus der Gasphase heraus in einem gerührten Pulverbett bei Temperaturen von 40 bis 150 DEG C und Drücken von 1 bis 100 bar polymerisiert wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Polymerisation in Anwesenheit wenigstens eines Wirbelschichtklassierers erfolgt, der ein nach oben und nach unten hin offenes Rohr darstellt, welches im gerührten Pulverbett eingebaut ist, wobei durch das Rohr von dessen unterer Hälfte her Gas mit einer derartigen Geschwindigkeit zum oberen Ende geleitet wird, daß sich in dem Pulver gefüllten Rohr ein Wirbelbett bildet.
