The brake lamp assembly comprises a brake lamp shell contained in a channel in the rear end of the vehicle, an outer lens cover, a latch, an actuator, a multipurpose lamp and a sensor. The outer lens cover is connected to the brake lamp shell. The latch is selectively connected with the brake lamp shell in the channel so that the brake lamp shell can move between the first position and the second position when the latch is braked. The actuator connected to the latch actuates the latch between a locking position and an unlocking position, and the actuator is connected to the brake lamp shell. The multipurpose lamp is connected to the brake lamp shell, and cannot be operated when the brake lamp shell is located at the first closing position, and the multipurpose lamp can be operated when the brake lamp shell is located at the second extending position. The multipurpose lamp carries out illumination on the area near the vehicle. The sensor is used for sensing the position of the brake lamp shell.
