The invention relates to a plate, which belongs to a cord system, consists for example of a flat plate-like, preferably body 2 consisting of steel, which is provided at the narrow side 8 with a metal coating 11 coming with the thread into contact to preventing abrasion. The metal coating 11 extends not substantially to its flat sides 5, 6. If the metal coating 11 over the flat sides 5, 6 extends, the thickness of the metal coating 11 decreases on the basis of the narrow side 8 on a distance of some tenths millimeters to if necessary few millimeters to zero. The thickness of the metal coating 11 is preferably substantially smaller, if them are at all present at the flat sides 5, 6, than at the narrow side 8. Alternatively or supplementing a set off surface range can be intended following the narrow side 8, which takes up the metal coating 11.
