An unirradiated nuclear fuel assembly component transport system includes a tubular container (26) that opens along its axial dimension to load and unload the fuel component being transported. An overpack (12) is separable into an upper and lower section with the lower section (16) having a V-shaped channel (32) extending along its longitudinal axis. The liner (26) is supported in the V-shaped channel (32) by at least one row of shock mounts (28) on either side of the channel. The lower section (16) of the overpack (12) is secured from rotation and the top section (14) is latchably engaged to the lower section (16). |
