When lacing is to be effected with respect to the coil end (2a) of a stator (1a) whose diameter differs from a reference diameter, the stator (1a) is moved in such a manner as to deviate the rotation axis (Z1a) of the stator (1a) by an amount corresponding to the eccentricity (A) from the movement axis (Z2) of the thread supply nozzle (5), so that lacing can be effected with respect to the coil end (2a) of the stator (1a) while the thread supply nozzle (5) is still used without changing the movement locus of a hook (4).
