A method of scheduling and verifying a multi-participant process, the method comprising: submitting, by a submitting node associated with a participant in the multi-participant process, a proposed transaction by sending a cryptographically protected message to one or more recipient nodes, where the cryptographically protected message comprises at least an unencrypted sub-message readable by an external node, and a cryptographically protected sub-message protecting at least privacy from the external node; determining, by the external node, a sequence of the proposed transactions relative to other transactions; validating the cryptographically protected message by at least some of the recipient nodes; receiving a validity confirmation of the cryptographically protected message from at least some of the recipient nodes; based on receiving one or more acknowledgements from at least some of the recipient nodes that satisfy an acknowledgement condition, completing the proposed transaction as an acknowledgement tran
