The preparation method of the high-rate artificial graphite negative electrode material comprises the following steps: mixing artificial graphite and asphalt, and then carrying out low-temperature granulation heat treatment in a protective atmosphere to obtain a granulated material; the low-temperature granulation heat treatment comprises first heat treatment and second heat treatment which are sequentially carried out; and carrying out carbonization treatment on the granulated material to obtain the high-rate artificial graphite negative electrode material, the final temperature of the first heat treatment and the final temperature of the second heat treatment correspond to a metastable state temperature section and a viscosity abrupt change section of a rheological curve of the asphalt respectively.
